Professional photography is the key-stone of most successful marketing campaigns, and this statement doesn’t ring truer than in the Resort and Tourism industry. As a former commercial photographer myself, I worked for many years on photograhic shoots for major ad campaigns for the QLD Tourism industry. I know, first-hand, the difference it makes to marketing material when high-quality photography is used and how expensive professional shoots can be.  There's photographer costs, talent costs, makeup artist costs, stylist costs, art director costs, prop and wardrobe costs, ongoing royalty payments, etc... and there's always a chance that the shoot will get rained-out, or won't come out as you'd hoped. These costs can be huge and are often beyond the reach of many smaller resort managers. Which is why I want to show you how to get high-quality and professional photography of virtually every tourism spot in QLD… without getting out of your chair.

If you’re promoting a tourism destination within QLD, Tourism Queensland’s image library is an incredible resource that is made available to you by the Queensland Government. Simply register online with Tourism Queensland and you can enter their gigantic online image library. There you’ll find more than 24,000 award-winning images of Queensland's colourful and contrasting destinations, to use in the promotion of QLD tourism destinations.

Download professional photos of your complex and surrounding areas to post on your listings or website. Use high-quality images for your brochures, newspaper ads, etc, or order images on CD for use in outdoor advertising. Tourism Queensland do ask that you’re using the images to promote QLD tourism destinations, and that you credit Tourism Queensland for the images.

A discounted Tourism Industry rate no copyright fees, unlimited use is available to resorts for the promotion of Tourism Businesses in Queensland. Better yet, if the images are being used by the media in editorial promoting Queensland destinations they are downloadable for free.

To ascertain costs please login to the Tourism Queensland image library www.tq.com.au/imagelibrary and click on the 'Prices' tab.  For further information, you can email image_library@tq.com.au.

Just click here to upload your profile portrait now - its easy!I just wanted to mention this article has been amended from the original we posted this week as TQ has since pointed out the images are only 100% free for media editorial use. If you're using them in the promotion of your resort business you do have to pay a very small fee - however this grants you unlimited use of the image - so it's still an excellent service.

Sorry for the oversight.
