Police Investigate Deathbed Confession

A CONFESSION from beyond the grave said to have been made by a Gold Coast body corporate chairman shortly before his death, has been referred to police. Independent auditors also have been called in to investigate allegations that unit owners near Surfers Paradise may have been ripped off to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars by building managers overcharging for services such as gardening. Body corporate committee members were interviewed yesterday by Gold Coast detectives after the Office of Fair Trading referred the matter to police. A copy of the body corporate chairman’s purported deathbed confessions seen by The Courier-Mail has been shown to investigators atoms.
"I have instructed a friend to release this apology to owners upon my death after my funeral" the letter states. "I have done a number of things in my life that I have regretted. One of those things was to deceive other owners at my home ... I stood for chairman for the sole benefit of obtaining money from the corruption I was sure was happening"
